Allain Ellouz is a self-taught sculptor who discovered alabaster in 1995.
In 2005, he took up the challenge of giving alabaster a contemporary identity. Designer Marion Biais-Sauvêtre immediately assisted him in bringing his creative ideas to life, comparing them with aesthetic standards and technical advances.
Since 2007, the projects have begun to spread to the most privileged places in the world and can now be found on every continent.
In 2012, Allain Ellouz discovered rock crystal and began working with this material.
A true expert in stone and scenographer of light, Atelier Alain Ellouz is an art workshop that highlights the vibrant subtleties of alabaster and rock crystal. These materials are transformed into minimalist lighting fixtures and architectural structures that adorn the most beautiful luxury interiors.

Before this stone became part of contemporary design, it was used for windows and stained glass, decorative elements and sculptures. This stone has been perceived as a source of calm and serenity.
Alabaster is a unique stone with a long history. It lies hidden beneath other layers of rock. A specific crystallisation of gypsum has led to the rare and unique formation of translucent alabaster. The intrusion of plant sediments creates these subtle shapes and patterns. Alabaster plays with light, and only through careful and precise selection can the most beautiful compositions be created. Although this material can be stretched and shaped, these processes are not simple. It is through this expertise that the Alain Ellouz Workshop stands out.

All Atelier Alain Ellouz.édition lighting fixtures are made of alabaster stone, which has a natural translucency. Blocks are extracted from the quarry, selected, sculpted and smoothed before being fitted with interior lighting. This material, which creates shades of warm white, diffuses a soft, warm and enveloping light.

Alain Ellouz chose rock crystal in order to test the natural transparency properties of this fascinating mineral. Inspired by the tradition of candlesticks and the craftsmanship of jewellers, he creates enchanting pieces. Since ancient times, this precious stone has captivated humanity, being perceived as a form of eternal ice or as a symbol of the perfect union between air and water. A long tradition of cutting has made it possible to create precious and noble objects.

A meticulous choice between transparency and mysterious cracks in the mineral is made to achieve exceptional light diffusion. For each chandelier, the crystals are combined with finesse. After careful analysis and detailed manufacturing, the incorporation of new LED technologies allows for innovative lighting effects on the crystals.
