SOHO-pendant light

Allain Ellouz is a self-taught sculptor who discovered alabaster in 1995.

In 2005, he took up the challenge of giving alabaster a contemporary identity. Designer Marion Biais-Sauvêtre immediately helped him to realise his creative ideas, testing them against aesthetic standards and technical advances.

From 2007 onwards, the projects began to spread to the most privileged places in the world and ended up on every continent.

In 2012, Allain Ellouz discovered rock crystal and set to work with the material.

Atelier Alain Ellouz is an art studio that brings out the vibrant subtleties of alabaster and rock crystal. These materials are transformed into luminaires and architectural structures of minimalist design to adorn the finest luxury interiors.

With the same exacting standards and in the pure tradition of the great French luxury houses, Atelier Alain Ellouz has developed a new art form and exceptional skills: stone sculptors and cabinet-makers bring form and light into dialogue.

Alabaster

Before this stone came into contemporary design, it was used for windows and stained glass, decorative elements and sculptures. This stone was perceived as a vector for calm and serenity.

     

Alabaster is a unique stone with a long history. It is hidden under other layers of rock. A specific crystallisation of gypsum has led to the rare and unique formation of translucent alabaster. The intrusion of plant sediments helps to create these subtle shapes and patterns. Alabaster is open to the play of light, and it’s only through careful, precise selection that the most beautiful compositions are created. Although this material can be stretched and moulded, the process is not easy. It is this know-how that sets the Atelier Alain Ellouz apart.

Alabaster.édition

All Atelier Alain Ellouz.édition lighting is made from alabaster stone, which is naturally translucent. Blocks are extracted from the quarry, selected, sculpted and smoothed before being fitted with interior lighting. This material, which creates warm white shades, diffuses a soft, warm and enveloping light.

Each luminaire, made from natural materials, is unique. Take the time to admire them and discover their singularities.

Rock crystal

Alain Ellouz opted for rock crystal to test the natural transparency properties of this fascinating mineral. Drawing on the tradition of the candlestick and the craftsmanship of jewellers, he creates enchanting pieces. Since ancient times, this precious stone has captivated mankind, being perceived as a form of eternal ice or as a symbol of the perfect union between air and water. A long tradition of cutting has resulted in the creation of precious and noble objects.

A meticulous choice is made between transparency and the mysterious fissures of the mineral to ensure exceptional light diffusion. For each chandelier, the crystals are combined with precision. After careful analysis and manufacturing details, new LED technologies are incorporated to create innovative lighting effects on the crystals.
